Here are the itineraries that we have chosen for you..
But obviously that’s not all! The various valleys of the Aosta Valley and the nearby Valle dell’Arve in France, offer endless ski touring possibilities. Why not chose, together with us, which ones to try?

| | To begin we recommend 2 basic courses, organised around 3 weekend excursions:
Weekend 19 – 20 January (Course 1)
Weekend 26 – 27 January (Course 2)
Area: Morge, La Salle
Saturday: 10am at the meeting point at Morge di Planival.
Lesson on basic use of technical equipment (bindings and Arva) followed by a 400mt ascent up to the huts of Les Ors. Afternoon, lesson in snow conditions, dinner, bed and breakfast at an Agriturismo.
Sunday: Ascent of 900mt to Col Fatita, followed by the “Mont Blanc Zone afternoon snack” at the Pasticceria! (cake shop).
Weekend 2 – 3 February (Course 1)
Weekend 9 – 10 February (Course 2)
Area: Vetan
Saturday: 10am at the meeting point at Vetan.
Lesson on use of safety equipment, shovel, probe and Arva and choice of itinerary, followed by an ascent of 400 to 600mt up towards the Monte Rosso di Vertosan.
Dinner, bed and breakfast in an Agriturismo.
Sunday: Ascent of 950mt up to Punta Leissè, followed by the “Mont Blanc Zone afternoon snack” of specialities of the Aosta Valley.
Weekend 23 – 24 February (Courses 1 & 2)
Area: Val Ferret, Courmayeur
Saturday: 10am at the meeting point at Planpincieux, Val Ferret.
Ascent of 400mt up to the Bonatti Refuge, a practise test using Arva, and a lesson in orientation.
Dinner, bed and breakfast at the refuge.
Sunday: Ascent of 900mt up to Colle di Malatrà, followed by the “Mont Blanc Zone afternoon snack” at Lavachey.
Technical level required to participate in the course:
As a basic beginners course, a fair downhill ski level is sufficient to be able to take part. During the first 2 weekends it is possible to transfer from one course to the other as necessary.

Then this is the programme suitable for you: 3 weekends plus 1 long weekend with a 4000mt ascent to finish!
Weekend 23 – 24 February
Area: La Thuile/Colle San Carlo
Ascent of Mont Colmet (3021mt), and Combe Varin (2620mt) with afternoon snacks, dinner, bed and breakfast in Hotel at Colle San Carlo. Both ascents of aprox 1100mt. each.
Weekend 1 – 2 March
Area: Gran San Bernardo Valley
Sabato: ascent of aprox. 1350mt up to Mont Fourchon (2906mt) afternoon snacks, dinner, bed and breakfast in Hotel at St. Remy en Bosses.
Sunday: Back towards Aosta to the ascend the Punta Chaligne (2608mt), aprox 1250mt.
Weekend 15 – 16 March
Area: Valpelline
Saturday: an ascent of 700mt up to Refuge Crete Seches with overnight stay.
Sunday: departing from the refuge, an ascent of 1100mt up to Mont Gelè (3518mt).
Long weekend 4 – 5 – 6 April
Area: Valsavarenche / Gran Paradiso 4061mt
Friday: 1pm at meeting point of Pont in Valsavarenche, in the Gran Paradiso National Park.
Ascent up to the Vittorio Emanuele Refuge for dinner and overnight stay.
Saturday: Ascent of the Tresenta (3609mt), descent back to the refuge for an Arva practice test followed by rescue procedures in a crevasse. Overnight at the refuge.
Sunday: Ascent of the Gran Paradiso (4061mt), an ascent from the refuge of aprox. 1200mt. Followed by a long descent back down to Pont for a satisfying afternoon snack.
| | Grand Tour of the Gran Paradiso National Park A 5 day tour passing through the 3 different valleys of the Gran Paradiso National Park concluding with the ascent of the Gran Paradiso at 4061mt. Two departure dates available.
Tour departure dates: Sunday 13th April and Sunday 20th April
Sunday: 9am at meeting point of Arvier, at the entrance of the Valsavarenche valley. Transfer by local bus up to the village of Valsavarenche, then the ascent up to Refuge Bezzi (2284mt) for dinner and overnight stay.
Monday: From the refuge, an ascent up to Colle Bassac Dèrè (3082mt) with the option to proceed onto the Becca della Traversière (3337mt), followed by a descent down to Refuge Benevolo (2285mt).
Tuesday: From the refuge an ascent up to Colle Basei (3176mt) then the descent down towards the Nivolet area for dinner and overnight stay at the Refuge Città di Chivasso (2606mt).
Wednesday: A long and interesting section that takes us up to the Colle di Pounta Fourà (3124mt) followed by a descent into the Vallone di Seiva, before heading up to the Vittorio Emanule Refuge (2732mt) for dinner and overnight stay.
Thursday: To complete the tour in style.. the ascent of the Gran Paradiso at 4061mt. Followed by a descent of over 2000mt down to Pont for a “Mont Blanc Zone” hearty afternoon snack.
Local bus back to Arvier.

| | Tour from Val di Rhemes to La Thuile A 4 day tour that takes us from the Val di Rhemes over to La Thuile via the Valgrisenche. A total of 4600mt of vertical! Two departure dates available.
Tour departure dates: Sunday 6th April and Sunday 13th April, returning on the following Wednesday.
A daily vertical of between 500mt on the first day, up to 1650mt on the last day. ( depending on the conditions, the third day can be reduced to aprox. 1100mt of vertical).
Sunday: 9am at the meeting point at Villeneuve to proceed to Rhemes by local bus, from Rhemes an ascent up to Refuge Benevolo (2295mt) for dinner and overnight stay.
Monday: Across the Tsantseliena pass at 3154mt and Bassac Derè Sud at 3158mt to then descend down to Refuge Bezzi (2284mt) for dinner and overnight stay.
Tuesday: There are 2 alternatives; ascent to Cole Giason (3154mt) then descending down to Bonne in Valgrisenche (1819mt) for dinner and overnight stay, or the descent down to Surier (1785mt) then ascent up to Refuge Scavarla (2912mt) for dinner and overnight stay.
Wednesday: We close the tour with the ascent of the Colle del Rutor (3373mt) with the possibility to reach the summit at 3486mt. Followed by the descent down to La Thuile. Local bus back to Villeneuve for afternoon snack to close.
Technical level required:
| | Mountain Rescue course – 2 days A 2 day course of theory and practical training in mountain self rescue. Exercises in using search equipment, Arva, avalanche awareness, crevasse rescue techniques and reading into weather and snow conditions.
